HIST241 Southern New Hampshire University World War II History Draft/Outline Submit a draft/outline of your research paper thus far. This can be either a complete draft or a mixture of a draft and an outline. At a minimum, you should provide four pages of text, including introduction and thesis statement, in addition to any outline.(See attached!!) HIS 241 Milestone Three Final Project Rough Draft Checklist and Rubric
Overview: In this milestone, due in Module Five, you will provide a draft of your final paper. It should incorporate the critical elements of the final project as
well as the instructor and peer feedback gained thus far in the course. This can be either a complete draft or a mixture of a draft and an outline. At a minimum,
you should provide four pages of text, including an introduction and a thesis statement, in addition to any further outline of the remainder of your paper. The
draft should also utilize the resources you identified in your annotated bibliography. See the Final Project Guidelines and Rubric for details in writing your
research paper.
Prompt: The following critical elements will be addressed in this submission:
?
Introduction: Your introduction should be a concise and clear overview of the topic you intend to cover, no greater than half a page in length. You
should provide only the information necessary to grasp the concepts in your paper and to fully understand the thesis statement. As you are only trying
to orient your reader, you should not try to prove the entirety of your case in the introduction nor fall prey to writing clichés (Since the beginning of
time
; Historians have all believed this was the greatest war
) that detract from your thesis statement. Be sure to incorporate the instructor
feedback you received from your paper topic submission (Milestone One) in Module Two.?
?
? Thesis Statement: This is the centerpiece of the introduction. A thesis statement is a 1- to 2-sentence summation of the argument you will prove in your
paper and is generally the last sentence of your introductory paragraph. Despite its length, a well-written thesis statement is critical to the success of
your overall paper. Not only will a well-written thesis clearly state your argument, but often in its crafting you will discover the best way to organize
your paper as well. If you are having trouble, please consult the article Writing a Thesis and Making an Argument for further advice on how to develop a
thesis statement. Pay particular attention to how a thesis statement develops from a general assertion (The movie JFK inaccurately portrays President
Kennedy) into a substantial argument. Be sure to incorporate the instructor feedback you received from your paper topic submission (Milestone One)
in Module Two.
?
?
Use of Annotated Bibliography: Either in your written pages or in the outline, you should utilize the sources from your annotated bibliography to help
develop arguments within your paper. If used in the text, these should be properly cited uses of the source designed to buttress the argument you are
making. If you use the sources within the outline, you should specifically indicate how you are planning to use the source to aid in your argumentation.?
Any sources that are cited incorrectly or are simply indicated, rather than documenting how the source will be used, will not count towards the
minimum five quality sources. Be sure to incorporate the instructor feedback you received from your annotated bibliography submission (Milestone
Two) in Module Four.
