Health Information Exchange (Reflection)
Reflection Directions A variety of different programs and initiatives have been created that support the exchange of health information electronically. The electronic exchange of information is really most valuable when all parties are involved and meeting the standards necessary to facilitate the exchange. One of the parties associated with the exchange of information and this increase in access is the patient. Think of a time when you requested access or information from your medical record. Perhaps you were switching providers, seeking care from a specialist or you wanted to reference your own medical history. Reflect upon how this information was shared with you or the other providers. Then, analyze how you think increased transparency with you as the patient and access to your health information could impact your experience with your provider(s). Your response should be in approximately 150 words per the rubric.
