Why did you choose this article?
I was narrowing the topic and found vaccines and autism on the ResearchNet database. I chose this article because it related to the question of vaccines, generally, and wanted to get a better understanding of the debate, which I’ve seen online and heard about in conversation. One of the topics included addressed vaccines and autism.
Is the article credible? How do you know?
The article was credible because the author is an MD, and it was published in a peer-reviewed journal, the Journal of Family Practice, which means it’s been verified by other experts in the field.
Is the author biased? How do you know?
The author does not appear to be biased, because they are not providing an opinion-based piece. They cite empirical evidence/research throughout. Also, the author’s affiliations are included with the article, so it does not appear that there is any conflict of interest or hidden agenda.
Is the article relevant? Explain your response.
The article was relevant, because while it only addressed autism and vaccines in a small section, it gave me further points on which to search for more information. I think it also helped me change the topic a bit, as it discussed other issues in the debate, so I will use this to focus more generally on the reasons for the debate over vaccines.
