Please, read the entire document so you have a better idea of all the steps required to complete the Final Report.

  1. TASK 1: Select a motor skill that is a relatively complex task, that you should be familiar with, and that you could teach to another person. In addition, you need to select the person to teach this motor task, and the context in which you will be teaching the selected motor skill. The motor skill should be specific, such as shooting a basketball free-throw, throwing a ball at a target, getting off the floor and into a wheelchair, performing a task with a new prosthetic device, walking following hip or knee joint replacement surgery, and so on. [Note select a unique skill and in doing so, make sure you are familiar with such skill.
  1. TASK 2: Based on your knowledge of measurement of motor performance and assessment of motor learning, select three things: (a) the performance variable(s) to measure, (b) the performance characteristic to define change in performance across time (ICOS), and (c) the learning assessment technique to evaluate if “true” learning will occur (Retention and/or transfer tests) (PAR). Organize the content inside the following Table. Submit this table as your TASK 2 in Canvas under the module Submission of TASK 2. Remember to write your name and Motor skill
  TASK 2
  Student Name:

Motor Skill:

  Variable/Characteristics/ Test Name Description
a

b

c

Again, your instructor will let you know if you have passed or failed.

  1. TASK 3: Develop a list of what you consider to be the six most common performance errors made by beginners, patients or clients while performing your selected skill. For each error, describe what the person is doing when making the error. List these errors in order of importance to correct if the action goal is to be achieved. That is, the first error would relate to the skill component that would be essential to correct first.

Next, develop a prescriptive knowledge of performance (KP) statement for each of the six errors. These statements should be written in terms of what you would tell this person to help him or her correct these errors and improve his or her performance of the skill. Prescriptive KP statements provide information about the error made and how to correct it. For example, if a person is stepping forward with the wrong leg while throwing a ball, the KP statement could be, “You need to step forward with the other leg.”

Use the following table to include the requested information. Submit this table as your Task 3 in Canvas under the module Submission of TASK 3. Remember to write your name and Motor skill

TASK 3: Submit via CANVAS the above table with the list of performance errors and the corresponding prescriptive KPs. Again, your instructor will let you know if you have passed or failed.

  1. Read the 2 articles included in CANVAS under the module Report – Application Report: Readings for TASK 4, and understand the relationship between these articles and the content taught in this class.

Generate a document with a list of the most important motor learning principles/concepts that you learned from these articles and the class content.List at least 6-10 motor learning principles/concepts and BRIEFLY justify why you think this principle/concept enhances motor learning in your case.

Organize your content using the following format:

  List of motor learning principles/concepts
  Student Name:

TASK 4: Submit via CANVAS the above completed table with the list of motor learning principles/concepts that you plan to use to teach your selected motor skill. Again your instructor will let you know if you have passed or failed.
