Examines the Changing Economic Conditions after 1830 Experienced by the Cree and Blackfoot Assignment | Essay Help Services

Write an essay of about 2000 words that examines the changing economic conditions after 1830 experienced by the Cree and Blackfoot in the pre-treaty period, and assesses the ways in which the numbered treaties at first seemed to offer a way to adapt successfully to a new lifestyle. Your essay should make use of at least four books, including course texts and other works. You may consult your tutor or the Athabasca University Library regarding suitable books. Your essay should focus on the ways in which the Cree and Blackfoot coped with change, and why these coping mechanisms no longer seem to be effective. According to the elders, what did the government offer, and what did it ask for in return? What did the Cree and Blackfoot believe they were negotiating for, and what, in fact, was the outcome of these treaty negotiations?
