Evaluate Students for Intellectual Disabilities

For this task, you will write a paper to help you analyze the evaluation and identification of students identified with intellectual disabilities. There are two parts you should include in this paper. Both parts will be submitted in one document.
Part I:
Describe the general evaluation process for students suspected of an intellectual disability. You may refer to federal criteria in the IDEA, or you may rely on criteria in state statute in a location of your choosing or familiarity.
Be sure to address the following components:
Describe the areas to be assessed.
Identify and describe potential assessment tools to be administered.
Determine who would administer each assessment and a justification for your choice.
Describe all individuals from whom you would collect information, determine how you would collect information, and provide a justification for choosing each individual.
Explain the need to administer multiple types of assessment for validity purposes.
Part II:
Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between an intellectual disability, a developmental delay, and a specific learning disability. In your analysis, include a description of how the potential assessments vary within the evaluation process for students suspected of each of these conditions.

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect doctoral-level writing and APA standards.
