A very brief introduction to the organisation (industry sector, size, structure, age, products/services, etc

Make sure you start with telling the reader briefly about your organisation and just give the highlights in a mini paragraph. This is just enough so they can understand the context of what you write later.

If you think the reader needs to know more use an Appendix and put the additional information there. Don’t forget to make the link e.g. say in main body Appendix 1 outlines xyz in more detail.

  1. An explanation of why your organisation needs to continue to change, focusing on the internal and external factors (at least six factors) that drive or influence the change, and how that change can affect the business (give three ways)

Simple list and explain 6 factors that are driving change in your organisation.  The CIPD factsheet https://www.cipd.co.uk/knowledge/strategy/change/management-factsheet#8084 has a list of reasons why organisation’s change as shown on page 142 in the workbook and the text book on page 276 has some examples from organisations. Don’t forget to divide these between external (e.g. factors from a PESTLE) and internal (e.g. factors that would come from the Strengths and Weaknesses of a SWOT model).

(Criteria: Why organisations need to change with reference to internal and external factors.)

Then explain 3 ways that the change already mentioned could impact your organisation. You may remember the Dimensions of Change on page 168 in the workbook that has some examples of this that may relate to your own organisation and I’m sure you can think of others here.

(Criteria: Explain how change can impact an organisation’s business.)

  1. An explanation of at least four key factors involved in the change process

Identify and explain in detail 4 factors involved in change process. I’m sure you can remember a lot from the workshop here and all the different topics you covered would have discussed. For example the workbook page 180 discusses ten change transformation themes essential aspects of transformational change processes, in three areas – techniques to design change, build understanding and manage change. https://www.cipd.co.uk/knowledge/strategy/change/theory-practice-report180

(Criteria: Explain the main factors involved in the change process.)

  1. A description of the critical stages involved in the change process:
    • Evaluate similarities and differences for three approaches to managing change that could be used by organisations,

Here you can think about all the different models you went through in class Lewin, Kotter, Adkar, CIPD 7 CS etc For example page 278 in the text book talks about ‘Approaches to Change: Building capability and confidence’ and identifies a 7-step framework. Pick your favourite 3

Don’t spend to long explaining the model and models / diagrams/ pictures are good to save on word count.  Then look at what is similar between the 3 models and what’s different.

You could use a table as a summary of similarities and differences but make sure there is an evaluation afterwards in a paragraph. So x is like this but y is like that……

Make sure you reference where you have got your models from!

    • Including an example of how your organisation has used one of them successfully or unsuccessfully

Now, think about a change your organisation is going through or has recently been through and apply one of the models you have used. Go step by step through the model and say how / if you organised went through that step or not, how well, and what was the learning. A table may help here but make sure there is some explanation too.

(Criteria: Compare and contrast different approaches to managing change.)

  1. A comparison of three different behavioural responses seen when change occurs in an organisation
  • How these impact on the success  of change management and

Explain 3 different individual responses to change and their impact. Again the main point here is to compare contrast these responses. A table may help but you still must have the evaluation part x v y. Again either explained within the table or in a paragraph underneath.

You can use for e.g. Transition Curve in Workbook on page 174 or Senge’s list on page 280 Textbook. There’s lots of research in this area e.g. Acas booklet https://archive.acas.org.uk/media/2673/Advisory-booklet—How-to-manage-change/pdf/Acas-How-to-manage-change-advisory-booklet.pdf and again Kotter, Prosci, Kubler Ross will help.

(Criteria: Compare and contrast the different behavioural responses people may demonstrate when an organisation is experiencing change.)

Explain three ways in which HR can play a role in supporting individuals during change.

This is an easy one with 3 mini paragraphs or extended bullets outlining our role and remember what you did in class and the workbook has a lot of information page 176 to 179.

Again you apply information from your own organisation here.

(Criteria: Explain the role of HR in supporting individuals during organisational change.
