Objectives
The goal of this essay will be to assess your understanding of rhetorical strategies, such as ethos, pathos, and your analysis of their effects and effectiveness on the targeted audience.
Additionally, you will have practiced and demonstrated your ability to write utilizing the writing process.

Format
Write a four-page (4-page) essay in MLA 8 format on the prompt below. All drafts (unless stated otherwise) must be:
Typed
Double-spaced (2.0)
Written in 12pt Times New Roman
One-inch margins on all four sides of the paper
Have appropriate headings
Drafts must be typed in black font only.
You will also need to include a works cited page with the article of your choosing only.

Assignment:
Compose a rhetorical analysis on one (1) of the articles from Hanif Abdurraqib’s, They Can’t Kill Us, Until They Kill Us.

1. “A Night in Springsteen’s America”

The essay must address the following:
Discuss the author’s motivation for writing this article.
Consider the subject and occasions (i.e. our current political climate)
Identify the rhetorical strategies and modes they use in order to construct their argument.
Rhetorical modes include tone (diction and syntax), audience, occasion, etc.
For example: Perhaps the article was a narrative testimony. Show how the author used diction, or word choice to deliver the emotional tone of their argument.
Discuss whether or not the rhetorical methods and strategies effective in delivering the author’s message?
