Edgecombe Community College Feminism in Pyschology Reasearch Study Paper #2: Peer reviewed research study – journal article summary:

This summary should be 3-5 pages long and must have a copy of the research study attached to the summary or send the link.Peer reviewed journals can be located in the library at ECC or Wesleyan College, either on the shelf or via a database. Remember, you need to find a research STUDY.

I have posted a step by step guide on how to access the ECC databases in Moodle. If you would like, you can also contact the ECC library staff for instructions on how to access and use the NC LIVE database remotely.

1. Select 1 peer reviewed journal article containing a RESEARCH STUDY dealing with any sociological concept. Your source MUST BE A RESEARCH STUDY. Using any article other than a RESEARCH STUDY will not receive any credit (in other words, you will receive a “0” for the assignment)

2. Summarize the main points of the research study using your own words – You may disregard any specific examples, statistics, or highly technical language in your summary.

Who did the research?
Who did the research population consist of?
Where was the research conducted?
When did the research occur?

3. Identify the sociological issue(s)/concept(s) that are involved in the research study

What idea, concept or issue was examined?
Why did the researchers think it was important to examine this idea, concept or issue?
What did the researchers discover?

4. Give your thoughts on the implication these concepts are having, or will have, on our society.

What effect does this idea, concept or issue have on society?
If this idea, concept, or issue is not addressed, how will it affect society in the future?

5. Explain what interested you about the article and/or what you learned.
