Discussion Memo: Tool or Technology Selection

In the Module 5 discussion, you select a tool or technology that you would like to research and review for a hypothetical organization. Select a tool or technology that is robust enough to meet all of the criteria for the final report. After you have identified your tool, you will provide the following in a discussion memo (between 250 and 300 words) and post the memo to the discussion area.

• The tool or technology.
• Your hypothetical organization.
• Your hypothetical organization’s field and/or goals.

Technical Report Example

Compose a very short memo (250 words or less) in which you present and analyze a technical report example of your choosing. Your memo should include a link to the example, and address the following questions in the description:

• What is the report about?
• What are the report’s principal findings, conclusions, or recommendations?
• Do you think the example’s findings, conclusions, or recommendations are compelling? Would you take the report’s advice? Why, or why not?
• If you were to suggest change or revision to the example, what would it be?

Reflection Letter: Technical Report Style and Design Issues

you will write a 500-word reflection letter that describes your understanding of the primary stylistic and document design issues at stake in technical reports. The letter should:

• Describe how you plan to address issues of style and design in your report.
• Provide specific tangible actions you will take in writing your report.

 Technical Report Early Draft

you will also submit an early draft of your Technical Report. The early draft should:

• Be at least 500 words.
• Utilize Tebeaux and Dragga’s “Formal Report” format.
• Utilize information from three (3) appropriate and properly cited sources using current APA formatting.

 Technical Report Final Submission

you will submit the final draft of your Technical Report. The Technical Report should:

• Utilize Tebeaux and Dragga’s “Formal Report” format.
• Cite at least six (6) sources using proper APA formatting.
• Provide a clear and strong recommendation for or against the use of the tool or technology.
• Be at least 1,500 words.
