Toyota plant tour
The Toyota plant in Indiana offers daily tours for those wishing to learn about the
company’s services and developments. The firm operates according to a set schedule to make
reservation comfortably to customers to prevent waste of resources. Therefore, there will be a
smooth running of the operation and following the recommended safety regulations and
guidelines. There is a management team consisting of two leaders who direct the group all the
time and thus enable us to obtain sufficient and important information about the company.
The factory tour schedule allows for reservation due to the large number of visitors
visiting the year round. Thus, the management will have an easy time to manage the reservation
through the schedule that is at its center. The company opens reservation to about seventeen
people appropriately to take them on an electric car around the factory. Also, the plant
management avoids opening the visit to singles people to avoid wasting resources. As a group,
the plant tour will be easily managed with individuals getting a chance to seek clarification on
issues as well as garner new ideas forms the team members. However, groups of less than the
recommended 17 persons could be allowed for a plant tour even though it depends on the
available space.
During our group plant tour at Toyota Indiana, a brief introduction was made, and we
were directed to a tram that dropped us at a TMMI’s Body Weld shop. The technology was at its
best here with various robotic machines joining steel parts with spot welds. Due to some energy
generated, flashing sparks were witnessed as earlier learned in class. Bodies ready painting
comprise of doors, fenders, hood and the back hatch. A variety of bodies are installed depending
on the model of the desired car. External assembling of cars is an important stage as it makes the
parts make up a vehicle beautifully. The cars that are manufactured are Siena, Highlander
and Sequoia.
The visitor’s center is free for visitation either before or after the plant tour, but for our
case, we preferred to explore it before the tour. The tour around the plant took us an approximate
of 45 minutes within which many new concepts were learned practically. The tour guide was
well informed and approachable to all questions from our group which motivated us to seek
more information from him. About half an hour was spent at the visitors’ center meaning that the
whole plant trip took us about 75 minutes. That was considerable time to learn more about motor
vehicle production process as well as the diverse success stories of Toyota plant in Indiana and
other regions. Godzilla Robot has been watched as it performs the amazing performance.
There were safety guidelines established at the plant to safeguard visitors. Hence, they
were meant to be complied with. Children under the age of 18 years were to be accompanied by
an adult. All adult persons were however required to produce a valid identification to be allowed
for a plant tour. Upon boarding the tram for the tour, seat belts were to be fastened by all persons
to prevent unnecessary accidents. The minimum age of children was six years of which they all
had to be accompanied. Exposure of body parts was prohibited to minimize risks of plant
accidents, therefore, long-sleeved shirts, long skirts or trousers, and closed shoes were
recommended. Cameras, mobile phones, and bags were prohibited during the tour, hence a
convenience locker provided to all persons.
