Case Study Instructions

You will complete three Case Studies in LIFC 303 (in Weeks 2, 4, and 6). In these assignments, you will be presented with a specific case scenario applicable to the course material. (These scenarios can be found in Blackboard under the assignment submission link in Weeks 2, 3, and 6) You will respond to each case using the material covered in class up to that date and write from the perspective of having already had coaching sessions with the client. Your Case Studies should include 3 to 4 pages ofcontent detailing what you did with your client and WHY. Your Case Studies should follow APA formatting(Please review the APA manual, APA tips document, and example Case Study for assistance with your APA formatting).

Additional instructions are listed below:

  1. Each Case Study should be saved according to the following naming convention: LastName_FirstName_Course_Section_CS#. For example Doe_John_LIFC303_B01_CS1. This would be the naming convention for saving Case Study one if you are in section B01. Case Study two would end with CS2 and Case Study three would end with CS3. Please be sure to double-check your section number for accuracy!
  2. Case studies must contain 3-4 pages of content, plus additional pages for the Title Page and Reference Page. (No abstract should be included with this assignment.) The Title Page and Reference Page should be on their own separate pages created by a page break.
  3. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation are required in every case study. The Case Study should be written in PAST tense, discussing a coaching session that already took place. The only information that should be written in future tense would be areas that you will address with your client in a future session.
  4. Each Case Study should focus on the steps you took with your client and why, focusing on the session itself rather than on your client’s background.
  5. You should write the Case Study in first-person.
  6. The case studies are to be written in APA format. However, an exception to this statement is that no Abstract should be included.
    1. The Title Page should include the running head, page number, title of the work, author’s name, and name of the institution in appropriate APA format. The running head and page number should be included in the page header.
    2. In-text citations must be used throughout the case study whenever a source is referenced. (This includes direct quotes, summaries, paraphrases, and ideas.) These citations should be completed in appropriate APA format.
    3. All sources used in the case study must also be listed in a reference page at the end of the work (with the exception of the Bible, which is not included in Reference Lists according to current APA format). All references must be cited in appropriate APA format.  Each paper must include references to the course text, at least one course lecture, and Scripture.
    4. The paper should have a one-inch margin on all sides, be double-spaced, contain no additional spacing between subheadings or paragraphs, contain properly indented paragraphs (one tab), and be written in Times New Roman, size 12 type. Please review the General Formatting/APA section of the Case Study rubric for additional specifics.
  7. The paper should be professional/academic in tone and should use sufficient references from the course text, at least one course lecture, and Scripture to support arguments. You are to respond to each case using the material covered in class up until that time. (Ex: The first case study should use the information from Modules 1 and 2 of the course.) Sources outside the course presentations, text, and the Bible are permitted, but not required.
  8. Each case study is to address the information in the corresponding prompt fully. Personal analysis of statements is required.
  9. Each Case Study must contain all new material. Submitting work or portions of work that you have previously submitted anywhere is considered plagiarism and will not be accepted. While you may address some of the same content in each Case Study, you must present the information differently. Please contact your professor if you have any questions.

An example Case Study has been provided in the course to help you better understand what is expected of your assignment. Please also review the grading rubric prior to submitting your assignment to make sure that you have met all of the criteria of the grading rubric.
