This report will serve as your rationale for developing your campaign plan and will become part of your final report. Through research and analysis, you will demonstrate your understanding of relevant publics—the various competitive, regulatory, political, or social environments in which a client organization operates. The analysis should identify business and organizational opportunities as well as challenges to solving the identified problem.

GUIDELINES ATTACHED

CAMPAIGN PROPOSAL ATTACHED AS WELL COM 690 Milestone Three Guidelines and Rubric: Situation Analysis
The situation analysis is the first part of your final campaign report. The situation analysis will serve as your rationale for developing your campaign. You should
imagine that you are an outside consultant or employee of your chosen company/organization. You have identified a communication need, and you now need to
create a report and presentation to convince company executives that there is a need for your campaign and that your proposed solutions will help the
company/organization resolve its issue. You will accomplish this by providing background information on the company and situating it within its industry and in
comparison with competitors. After demonstrating your knowledge of the company and its past communication plans, you will introduce your goals and suggest
a general budget (you will provide more details on the budget in the final campaign report). You do not have to propose solutions or explain how you will
achieve your goals. That will also be accomplished in the campaign report.
This milestone should demonstrate your ability to analyze business practices (as indicated in Course Outcome 4) and avoid the inclusion of personal bias (as
indicated in Course Outcome 3). While your instructor is available for questions and assistance at any time, you will work on this project in a more independent
manner than you may be accustomed to. Being able to work in a self-directed manner is a key component of Course Outcome 6. You will share a rough draft of
this section with your peers. Peer review is a key component of Course Outcome 4.
Course Outcomes:
 Apply moral reasoning to make ethically sound and socially responsible choices that are consistent with a cogent personal framework and accepted
standards in the field of communication
 Utilize multiple appropriate, strategic approaches in making decisions, formulating solutions, and solving problems that reflect creativity and versatility
of thought
 Engage diverse audiences effectively through an open-minded, empathetic treatment of different cultural perspectives and an awareness of self and
one’s impact in a global, interdependent age
 Integrate multiple communication technologies and collaborate in communities of practice to carefully curate shared messages while generating new
meaning
 Create, manage, and grow an authentic personal brand with purpose and savvy using innovative communication strategies, professional networks, and
relevant tools and technology
 Employ a broad, contemporary knowledge base, self-directed learning skills, and a practiced adaptability to remain on the cutting edge of the
communication field as an empowered agent of change
You should use these points as a guide to help you start thinking about “the situation” and what research and analysis you will need to complete and present in
your final report and presentation.
 Analyze your chosen business or organization. Identify the type of business, strengths and weakness, placement in industry, competitors, and other
pertinent details.
 Examine the set of circumstances, the problem, or opportunities your client organization is facing.
 Survey the causes of and potential solutions to your selected problem.
 Assess the needs that result from these problems.
 Identify the customers or audience that might become the target audience for your campaign.
 Create a clear statement of the situation to be addressed in your campaign.
 Identify and describe any challenges your company or organization is currently facing that might influence the type of campaign you choose to
undertake or strategies you will employ.

Identify and describe any current campaigns your organization is using. What digital/new media efforts is the organization employing? Remember,
through research and analysis, you should gain an understanding of relevant publics—the various competitive, regulatory, political, or social
environments in which a client organization operates. The analysis should identify business and organizational opportunities as well as challenges to
solving the problem.
A sample outline for this milestone might look like the following:

Communication Need
F*ck Cancer is a charitable organization based in the US and it is a registered Canadian
organization focused on prevention, early diagnosis, and emotional guidance and support to the
community affected by cancer. The organization plans for the on-the-ground and digital events
and programs that quest to alter the manner in which people talk and think about cancer,
fundamentally progressing the health outcomes. Communication plays a vital role in this
organization because its primary goal is to raise awareness among the members of the community.
The organization needs to reach out to the target audience in various parts of the US as well as
other parts of the world. This requires a communication channel that will enable it to reach the
audience in various parts of the country and the rest of the world. Therefore, the identified need is
to reach out to different generations in the US and other parts of the world and change their
perception of cancer.
Possible Approaches To Addressing The Need
The proposed approach is the use of sophisticated communication channels to reach out to
a large number of individuals in a different part of the US and the rest of the world. These
approaches will include the use of social network platforms, the internet, and traditional media.
The above choice follows the availability of various generations and demographics in the US who
possess different communication needs. For instance, the Baby-boomers may be reached through
television and emails, while Generation X may be reached through various social media platforms.
The differentiation of the communication methods in this organization is crucial because it will
facilitate comprehensive population coverage while meeting the needed of different populations.
The use of on-the-ground and traditional media as the primary communication method has not

depicted positive results in the past, and this presents the need for embracing new communication
ideas.

This study focused on estimating the impact of nonprofit rivalry ion charitable grants,
showing the changing effect that various charitable approaches can have on donors. This paper
shows that the increased rivalry amongst these organizations augments the overall donations by
all well-wishers in the industry. The study uses the simple instrumental variable as the primary
study approach. The findings indicate that the upsurge in nonprofit rivalry leads to a reduction in
the aggregate donations acquired by these institutions. Amplified fundraising expenses motivate a
significant part of the decline in donations. The results likewise show that rivalry has a positive
impact on the average donations by all the granters in the market.
The findings from this study provide some insights into the financial overview of the
nonprofit organization. With this understanding in mind, it will be easy to device a communication
approach that considers the organization’s economic aspect. The source is also important because
it stresses the impact of the competition on the nonprofits, and this insinuates that competition may
indirectly affect the F Cancer.

Stevenson, C. N. (2019). Help Me Understand: Effectively Communicating Across
Generations. In Handbook of Research on Strategic Communication, Leadership, and
Conflict Management in Modern Organizations (pp. 338-359). IGI Global.
The leaders in higher education must understand the disparities amongst the generations of
students and employees and come up with an approach for motivating and managing those
generations through communication. Among the variables considered in this study includes the
communication style and values. The researchers conducted a case study as the primary approach
to collecting the data. The goal of effective communication, in this case, is to promote the
satisfaction of the needs of all the generations across these institutions.
This article applies in the case of F Cancer, which requires the approach of communicating
across the generations in order to facilitate the success of the campaign. The instigation of various
communication approaches that consider the needs of multiple demographics and generations will
contribute to the success of the awareness campaign in this nonprofit organization. Thus, this study
provides some insights into what it takes to communicate across the generations.
