Of all the evaluation designs presented in the appendix, (Appendix 9-1, pp. 347-353 or Appendix 9-2, pp.354-355) which one would you consider the most effective while also being practical enough to convince your current place of employment to adopt it? What types of resistance would you face in your area of employment should this design be adopted? Explain your response. (You may also refer to your experience with a previous employer or speak in generic terms – what design you would convince an organization to adopt and why.)
Please include the name of the person or question to which you are replying in the subject line. For example, “Tom’s response to Susan’s comment.”

The single case design is an evaluation method used to evaluate training provided to professional counselors but can also be used in small businesses. This design is used to test the success and effectiveness of a training program or a treatment. Although flexibility and cost effectiveness are among the main advantages of this design, we can also identify this designs ability to confirm a functional relationship.
However, the resistance I would face when trying to convince my employer to utilize this design model is the limitations that must be taken into consideration when using the single case design. The evaluation design lacks generality. What may be effective to one individual might not be effective for another evaluation. Despite the resistance, I would suggest this design as it work best in a small business environment in which I’m employed.

Hello,
The most effective evaluation design is I believe is the single-case design. This type of evaluation design can be used to directly test the success of a specific method and also provides evidence about the general effectiveness of that method using a small sample size, which makes this good for small businesses (Blanchard &Thacker, 2013).
My current place of employment would be able to adopt this because we are a small business and this would make it easy to train supervisors and employees and by using the multiple baseline approach in this evaluation (Blanchard &Thacker, 2013). With only having to train a few employees it is useful to train one supervisor and monitor them when they are done training and see if it was effective and if so, give the next supervisor training and after monitor them to see if it was effective. If both employees improved after training, it can be concluded that the training was effective (Blanchard &Thacker, 2013).
Some resistance I might see from my place of employment would be the timing of using this design. Sometimes training needs to be time-sensitive and using this approach the results take longer to see if the training worked or not. By only training one employee or a small group of employees at a time and waiting a few weeks to see if it worked, might make it hard for those training to start working in the classes and teaching right away which could make them feel behind. Also, waiting to see if after a few weeks of training for one employee found the training effective might not work for the next, so we would have to find an alternative if that was t happen and go from there.
