Suspicious Activity Reports Analysis and Description
A. Summary of the intelligence collected from Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
According to Thomas (2019), security risk analysis requires seven basic skills to analyze data
during a criminal investigation. This analysis will assist in the identification of the best approach
to deal with the crime. The information in SARs can be analyzed through the skills. Buy
American Direct (BAD) was founded in 2002 and is located everywhere in the U.S. It is
primarily dedicated to stopping the importation of Chinese products. They are known to use
violence and destroy property. Most of the members are convicted criminals of assault, extortion,
drugs, fraud, firearms, and explosives.
At Wilson Marine, 24-foot fishing boats were stolen. Wilson realized the incident at 6.30
a.m. after noticing the gate to the storage yard had been smashed, and the three boats were
missing. The boats were described as 24 Foot Center Console Fish Reaper boats with twin 300
hp engines on each. They were valued at $84000.
Deputy James Fuller observe a suspicious vehicle that is packed on an empty street aimed in the
general direction of Box Station, Ink. There were two occupants in the car who were identified as
Richard Persons and Robert Jackson. The person had a previous arrest record with no active
warrant. Jackson was claiming to be the president of an activist group. They both departed
without incident.
A local bar owner, Mr. Pedro Sanchez, in 123 Central Ave., Yourtown, ST reported a
loud and boisterous patron who had to be removed by the security. The odd thing about the
individual was how he was asking the waiting staff about the location of the Box Station, Inc.
The incident became stranger when a female asked about the kinds of identification cards need to

get into the Box Station, Inc facility. Upon informing the police, the female departed before the
arrival of the police in a blue sports car.
From Johnsons interview, it is essential to note that Box Station, Inc use advanced
network infrastructure with state-of-the-art firewalls encryption and virus protection programs.
The employees use the Network Encryption Access Card (NEAC) for employees who need to
access the network. There have been several attempts to access the system following the missing
of some employees NEAC cards.
Interview of Officer Steve Ward, State Fish, and Wildlife Enforcement Division reveals
that there was a lot of boating activity in the rive. This was odd during that period of the year.
The fishermen anchor in the river between 100-250 yards away from Box Station, Inc. they did
not have any bait on their hooks.
Trooper Michelle Smith, Massachusetts Highway Patrol, stopped a rental moving van for
speeding. Upon approaching the driver, she noticed the vehicle license plate was expired. The
driver could not produce a vehicle registration or Bill of Laden and began exhibiting nervous
behavior. He is arrested, and he confesses to transporting explosives to a town to blow up a
distribution warehouse of a company that imports Chinese products.
B. Determination of the adversary
The adversary is likely to be a terrorist group. From the evidence of several unauthorized
attempts to log in the network, these could be domestic terrorist groups who are aiming at
hacking the network system (Fleming, 2011). The possession of explosives that most of the
suspects carry reveals that the groups main target was to attack the Box Station, Inc. Trooper
Michelle Smith stops the unregistered vehicle which was carrying explosives to a town to blow

up a distribution warehouse of a company that imports Chinese products. This is an indication
that there was a collaboration between the criminals to attack the Box Station, Inc.
C. Analysis of the range of the adversarys operations
The adversary operations focus on the city. Most of the suspects are focusing on accessing
Box Station, Inc. They pretend to do various activities around the area to accomplish their target.
Several explosives are discovered around the building, which is mainly focusing on attacking the
city where the company is located.
D. What is known about the adversarys motivation and how that might affect their
choice of target
The adversarys motivation is known by their several attempts of attack. They are suspected
and left to leave without any harm. For example, from the SARs report, the attackers are using
neighboring buildings to seek for more information on how to organize for the attack. They can
survey the area to arrange for their attack. The loss of the employees NEAC cards is also an
indication that the criminals were targeting many areas where they could launch the attack.
E. The agency with jurisdiction in following up on the potential threat
Homeland Security agency has an authorized jurisdiction in following up potential threats. It
is significant to apply the law of the state to ensure that all the criminal acts are dealt with
lawfully. The adversary choice of potential targets like the application of explosives to access the
Box Station, Inc fall under the inherent jurisdiction of the FBI (Axelrod, 2017). Most of the
potential threats are made by specific terrorist groups. The first survey of the region before they
plan for the attack. These are likely to be terrorist threats which can be handled by the FBI.
Identification of explosives is crucial evidence to justify the jurisdiction.

Threat Assessment
Introduction
Every organization has a mission that they have to achieve. However, various threats and
risks tend to hurdle the achievement of such organizational goals. Therefore, it is essential for the
companies to conduct a treat and information assessment and compile reports that can later be
used in fixing the threats and coming up with strategies to counter such challenges. Some
businesses seek to avoid the risks and seek benefits from the positive economic, political, and
business trends (Norman, 2016). Nonetheless, most organizations believe that they cannot afford
risk assessments, thereby forcing them to base their security on ill-advised judgments (Norman,
2016). It is essential for companies to select security professionals who can distinguish between
threats and hazards to come up with new strategies that can be used in ensuring that the company
mission is fully achieved. This is a threat assessment and information security report on Box
Station, Inc., which is dedicated to providing customers with products that balance expense and
quality in gaming entertainment.
Threat Assessment
Nature
One of the threats to the business is the management challenges with the Buy American
Direct (BAD). The challenge with managing BAD is that it has 10, 000 members who mainly
stop Chinese import to the United States (US). These members mainly use violence so that they
can assert their influence. Nearly half the members of BAD hold degrees in accounting,
Information technology systems, and Business administration. This implies that they can quickly
attack all the aspects of the business and manipulate the information therein.

They have been known to use violence and destroy property in attempts to assert their
influence. Many of their members are convicted felons of assault, extortion, drugs, fraud,
firearms, and explosives laws. Nearly half of their members hold advanced degrees in
Accounting, International Economics, Horticulture, IT Systems, and Business Administration.
Therefore, the essential elements of determining the treats are always to assess every part of the
business and see the progress of different parts.
Intent
It is clear that BAD has the intent, opportunities, and all the capabilities of carrying out a
threatening behavior. This is because most of the members of BAD have degrees in Business
administration, information technology systems, Accounting, International Economics, and
horticulture. This implies that the adversary has all the professionals to carry out the threatening
behavior in all the business aspects. Indeed, it has been reported that three 24-foot center console
fishing boats were stolen from Wilson Marine. Boating activities have also been witnessed
behind the Box Station, Inc. This implies that similar attacks can apply to the imports arriving in
the US from China to boost the business. Nonetheless, the treats are being actively pursued by
the company management.
Vulnerabilities
Activities that happen near the business exposes it to vulnerabilities for security threats.
For instance, people driving near the business have expired driving licenses such as the driver
caught by the police, Trooper Michelle Smith. The police even discovered 2000 pounds of T-NT in the back of the vehicle. Nevertheless, Box Station Inc. has tight physical and virtual security
to counter the attacks. The interview of Mr. Larry Johnson indicated that the company has the
most updated technology and network infrastructure, which is available with the state of the art

encryption, firewalls, and other programs for protection. The company also has a 6-foot chain
link fence that surrounds each of the property for physical protection. Furthermore, there are
shack guards at two entrances of every property: with the unarmed guard for 24/7.
Current Level of Risk
The current level of the threat can be said to be 5. The eminence if the threat can be said
to be more on physical security than the virtual security and may happen within one year. The
adversary upon finding their way to the property can cause much damage to the physical assets
of the company.
Counter Measures
Based on the SARs, the most recommended countermeasure is to arm the guards of the
property gates. The company should also tighten its security measures bearing in the mind that
the adversary BAD is comprised of professionals.
Information Security
Critical Information
Critical information that needs to be protected from reach by the adversary is business
transaction information, and the supplier moves. BAD already hinders imports from China to the
US, and it is from these imports that the company gets materials for operating their business.
Also, the adversary should not know the locations where the employees of Box Station, Inc., do
their cleaning.
Adversarys Methods
The adversaries mainly steal network encryption access cards to steal intelligence
information. The system administrator of Box Station, Inc., Larry Johnson admitted that network
THREAT ASSESSMENT
5
encryption access cards of three employees had been stolen hence there were several
notifications of unauthorized network access to the information system of eh company. Box
Station, Inc. is doing research and finding ways of preventing the attacks. In fact, the adversaries
have not succeeded in accessing the company information.
Potential Weaknesses
The potential weakness that the company has is poor management and storage of the
employee encryption access cards. Furthermore, there have been threats of accessing the
organizational information, yet the State Office of Homeland Security has not authenticated the
credibility of the treats presented to them. Therefore, state security has a weakness in managing
security threats to organizations within the state.
Risk Assessment
The risk that the adversary will obtain critical information is high. This is evidenced by
the fact that three employees have lost their network encryption access cards and that there have
been alerts on unauthorized access to the company information. If the adversary accesses the
critical information of the business, then they will have totally damaged the business.
Recommendations
It is recommended that Box Station, Inc. should change the encryption access cards that
they present to their employees. Moreover, the organization can use biometric access to networks
to prevent the stealing of the network access information. The adversary can also be kept away
by tightening the network encryption strategies that the company already has. In fact, there needs
to be a series of verification before the employees access the information that they require on the
business.
THREAT ASSESSMENT
6
Conclusion
In sum, it is essential to perform a threat assessment to ensure that an organization is
achieving success in its operations. Based on then treat the assessment of the Box Station, Inc., it
is clear that companies need to employ security personnel, both for physical and virtual security
management. This is because it has been shown that the main threat to company management
mainly comes from the management of critical information in a business.
