PESTEL Analysis
Political
In America, the beer industry is well represented in politics. A majority of the lobbyists
from the National Beer Wholesalers have held government jobs, and they have been advocating
for lower taxes, alcohol and drug abuse, and the safety of consumer products. Anheuser- Busch
is a member of the National Beer Wholesalers, which means that the company is well
represented in the political stage. Elected officials can formulate laws that determine the demand
for beer in certain regions, and this defines how well that product sells.
Economic
In the recent past, there has been a decline in sales of domestic beer as customers prefer
imported or craft beers in the United States. Given that Anheuser- Busch is a domestic brewer,
the firm has had to cut the volume of production. In this regard, the firm has to act to prevent the
trend from affecting its sales and revenue.
Social
Traditionally, American beer is made with low levels of alcohol, and it is cheap. In the
recent past, many drinkers have been shunning American made beer as they consider it inferior
to craft beers (Gatrell 360). In essence, this is highly likely to hurt the revenue of AnheuserBusch.
Technological
Anheuser- Busch uses the latest technology to produce its beers. In essence, considering
that the United States has the latest technology in production, the company is able to reduce costs
while improving efficiency. In this regard, the firm is able to offer its products at an affordable
price, which broadens the customer base.

Environmental
The firm uses a massive amount of water to brew its products. In the recent past,
Anheuser- Busch has committed to recycling over 99% of the water. Also, they have invested in
green energy, such as wind turbines. Notably, many customers are conscious of companies that
are protecting the environment, and the steps that have been taken by Anheuser- Busch are
highly likely to endear it to consumers.
Legal
The beer industry is governed by complex laws that determine the drinking age, places of
sale, time, and behavior. For instance, it is illegal to drive when drunk (Gatrell 364). In this
regard, Anheuser- Busch has to deal with many legal roadblocks to come up with the right
marketing and distribution strategies.
