Brigham Young University Stress Management Discussion response the files and write 150-300 words, write as you are student, quality workthank you There are many different ways to deal with stress, and each
individual reacts to stress differently. Different reaction to stress
can either be adaptive of maladaptive, which can lead to greater
stress in the long run. However, I believe that the majority of
people deal with stress in an adaptive perspective, meaning that
they learn from their stressors and persevere through hard times.
Maladaptive actions to deal with stress such as reverting to
drinking, drugs, and risky behaviors such as unsafe sex practices
are not part of the majority. Personally, when I am dealing with a
high level of stressors I tend to lash out and have a short temper.
After I lash out at someone, I always regret my action and feel
badly about how I have treated others. Technology has grown
exponentially in our everyday lives in the past decade and I
certainly believe it has an effect on the stress levels of individuals.
Past experiences I believe shape people’s perceptions and
schemas and it entirely influence how they react to situations
including stressful situations. They learn from their past
experiences and they base their reactions on what they have
learned. In respect to the quote, I agree with it’s message,
because I believe a situation is what you make of it and how you
view it. You could either view a stressful situation as a great
opportunity to learn, or as a terrible and unlucky event.
