Applying cybersecurity

Applying cybersecurity to a network requires an understanding of the available devices and programs and how each one functions. Reviewing marketing material or specifications is not the same as practicing proper placement within the network. For this assignment, you are tasked with placing a selection of cybersecurity appliances into a network. This can be built in PowerPoint or Word as both applications have shapes that can be used and labeled accordingly. If you use a program like Visio (not required) please save your work as a .pdf so that your instructor is able to open it.

The scenario:
You have been hired to secure an existing network. The network consists of:

10 computers
8 smartphones (used by employees and taken with employees when not at work)
4 servers (one each: file server, web server, database server, backup server)
3 printers
The devices you may use to secure the network include:

2 routers
1 IDS/IPS
1 Firewall
Design a network, properly labeling each component, and showing the placement of where each of the security devices would be located. Create an explanation for your placement (a few sentences to a few paragraphs at most).
