Please pick a public multinational company of your choice (please make sure the company faces
exchange rate risk). Read the company’s most recent Annal Report (10-k) and summarize how
the company deals with exchange rate risk (make sure to discuss the following):
(1) why the company faces exchange rate risk,
(2) what kind of exchange rate risk the company is facing;
(3) how the company assesses and manages risk from exchange rate fluctuations.
Each section can be discussed in separate paragraphs.
Additional Important Details:
Managers usually discuss risk management in “Item 7. Management’s discussion and analysis of
financial condition and results of operations”–“Item 7A. Quantitative and Qualitative
Disclosures About Market Risk”. Some companies might incorporate the risk management
discussion elsewhere, but they will mention under Item 7A that it is elsewhere and where it is.
Where to get the annal report?

You can go to the company’s main page, and there should be a link for “investor
relations” or “investors”. Click in and you should be able to find the company’s most
recent annual report there (or 10-k; note that the quarterly report is called 10-q, which
does not have detailed management discussion as the 10-k).

Alternatively, you can go to the Edgar website from the SEC:
https://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html Find your company, and
then from the mine of reports the company has filed, find the most recent 10-k.

Also, many financial websites (e.g., Yahoo! Finance) have links to the company’s 10-Ks
as well.

You can also google the company and find 10-k reports as well (example: Apple 10-k
report)
