UCF The Impacts of the Implementation of the Clean Power Plan on Global Climate Crisis I’m attaching is the last paper you wrote for my and it has the topic. As well as the new instruction for the the paper I want it you to write which will be references summary. So you have to pick 10 sources that will be used to support our topic in the next paper (which will be the research paper) and write summary for each of the sources between 3-5 sentences (short paragraphs). The file I’ve uploaded explains everything and if you have any question please let me know. Running head: THE CLEAN POWER PLAN AND GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE

The Impacts of the Implementation of the Clean Power Plan on Global Climate Crisis
Power plants that run on fossil fuels emit pollutants that contribute to global climate
changes and the increased number of natural disasters in the world. The devastating effects of
hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and heat waves are some of the negative consequences of
greenhouse emissions on our environment. Also, the economic hardships and public health
impacts of the continued dependence of industrialized nations on fossil-fueled power plants
contribute to the pressure of the countries to pass carbon emission regulations and policies to
reverse the trend (Driscoll et al., 2015).While the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
passed the Clean Power Plan (CPP) in 2015 to provide standards for power plants operations, it
was replaced with the Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) rule in June 2019. Hence, it is imperative
to compare and contrast these two laws to recommend the most appropriate one for
implementation due to its greater positive impacts on the country and efforts to combat global
climate change.
A comparative of the two environmental regulations showed that the differences in their
provisions and potential impacts on the United States and the rest of the world exist in the
determination of the tools for power plants to reduce greenhouse and support to states to achieve
their rate-based goals for carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. While the CPP contains specific
measurement that the EPA can use to determine the technologies that electricity generating units
would use, the ACE rule places this responsibility on the power plants. According to Bushnell,
Holland, Hughes, and Knittel (2017), the heat rate improvement (HRI) standards is integral to
the efforts to reduce emission rates and that the CPP clearly defined rates that EGUs must
achieve to meet regulatory requirement without comprising their capacity to support the
economy. Aside from the failure of the ACE rule to ensure that the EPA fulfill its obligations

under Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act, the framework that does not provide the clear
standards measuring the progress made by the states towards their 2030 rate-based goals. In
contrast, the CPP contains emission performance standards for the two categories of the electric
generating units (EGUs) that depend on fossil fuels for their supply to American energy
consumers. Therefore, the CPP has greater potential to support the EPA to identify and develop
the best systems of emissions reduction (BSER) from existing technologies for the different
types of pollutants from the power plants.
Furthermore, the CPP will more significant positive impacts on the efforts of the United
States to reduce its 82 percent contribution of the carbon dioxide that pollutes its environment
and the 75percent that contribute to global greenhouse emission rates (Cai & Arora, 2015). Also,
the CPP’s well-defined emission control standard has greater potential to strengthen the capacity
of fossil-fueled power plants to supply and support the American economy with cleaner energy
than the provisions of the ACE rule. The global impact of the reduction in the emission rates of
carbon dioxide include a policy guidance that can other countries to achieve their greenhouse gas
reduction goals and improve the quality of life through the elimination of some of the economic
hardships and public health issues that result from environmental degradation. An additional
evidence from the comparative analysis of the two environmental laws shows that the CPP
contains elements that would drive global investments in clean energy technologies than the
ACE, which is essential for improving the quality of lives of the residents of coastal areas in
developing countries who suffer more from climate change issues. Therefore, it is recommended
that the EPA should implement the provisions of the CPP because it will enhance its capacity to
meet emission reduction goals, improve the quality of lives of Americans and people in other
parts, and spur increased investments in clean energy technologies.

The third part of the group project is an annotated list of at least 10 references (sources)
that you will use for your paper. Here are the parameters:
• You must include at least 10 references.
• You must give complete bibliographic citation for your references.
• You can include books, articles from scientific journals, articles from reputable
magazines (e.g., Time, Newsweek, Economist), articles from reputable
newspapers, government reports, reports from other organizations, and/or other
printed resources.
• You can use web sites or Internet references, but these will not count towards your 10
sources. You must have 10 sources excluding web sites or Internet references.
This restriction is for two reasons. First, it is difficult to determine what
constitutes a reliable or reputable web site. Second, students tend to over-rely on
Internet-based sources of information, and I want you to go through the exercise
of obtaining information from other sources. It is fine to use Internet- based
search engines to locate sources, but the actual sources of information should not
be web sites or Internet references. (Make sure you know the difference.)
• Here are the only allowable exceptions to the restriction on Internet-based sources.
o You may download reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
(IPCC). You might wish to use the Synthesis Report and/or the Summary for
Policymakers, as these documents are written for a general audience.
o You may download and cite bills that have been introduced into the United States
Congress (e.g., via http://www.house.gov, http://www.senate.gov, or
http://thomas.loc.gov).
• It is fine if your reference list changes as you work on your paper. I am asking for 10
references now because I want to be sure that you are finding information to support your
thesis. As you work on your paper, you might decide to drop some references and add
others.
p 1/2
• References should be formatted according to the guidelines of the American
Psychological Association (APA). Note that, among other requirements,
references should be double- spaced, be alphabetized, and have a hanging indent.
The font is Times or Times New Roman.
• Please do not rely on Microsoft Word to format the references for you – although Word
does have a feature for APA style, it does not work very well. You should get a
th
copy of the APA Publication Manual (6 edition) and use that to make sure that
your references are formatted correctly. I am sure the library must have many
copies of the APA Publication Manual.
• For each of the (at least) 10 references on your list, first provide the complete
bibliographic information for the reference in the style of the journal you have
selected. Then, write a brief paragraph in your own words that summarizes the
main points or findings of the article as it pertains to your topic. This means you
must actually read and comprehend the articles on your list! For instance, you
might have an entry like this:
Robinson, A.B., Robinson, N.E., & Soon, W. (2007). Environmental effects of increased
atmospheric carbon dioxide. Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, 12, 79–90.
The authors contend that increased concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
have not led to any negative effects on weather or climate. They examine sea surface
temperature over the past 3,000 years and claim that the temperature now is colder than it
was about 1000 years ago. They examine arctic air temperature and U.S. surface
temperature since 1880 and claim that these temperatures correlate strongly with solar
activity, but not with hydrocarbon usage. However, their sea surface temperature data
don’t look like results we have seen in other sources, so we might need to check how they
got their estimates. Same for solar activity – their estimates of solar activity are different
from others we have seen, so we might need to check on their estimates.
Notice that I summarized key points of the paper, wrote in my own words, and
indicated how the paper might relate to my particular project.
