hiiii I need help please ???
I need help with a English question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.
Directions:
As I mentioned last week, our first unit will focus on barriers in education. These can come in many forms. In this chapter, “Learning to Read,” Malcolm X reflects on his experience with reading, a big component of education.
Please read the article carefully. If it helps, and you have the ability, feel free to print and annotate it. If not, I suggest taking notes as you read. If you are struggling to annotate the text, remember you can review English 020 Connection: Reading Strategies.
Step 1:
Read the following excerpt from Malcolm X’s The Autobiography of Malcolm X.
Step 2:
Fill out an annotation worksheet for the reading.
Blank Annotation Worksheet here. (DOCX)
Blank Annotation Worksheet here. (PDF)
(You can download it, type in your responses, and save your file or you can print it out, write your answers on the worksheet, and post a scan of the document.)
Step 3:
Answer the following questions. Your answers should be clear and detailed. Each answer should be a a minimum of 150 words long. These can be attached/written in a separate document or text submission or at the end of your annotation worksheet.
- How did the process by which Malcolm learned to read differ from the typical way people learn to read?
- In your own words, what does the author mean when he says. In fact, up to then, I never had been so truly free in my life (par. 11)? What is the effect of this statement on the reader?
- Is reading the most important skill for students in school today? Why or why not? What is equally or more important? What skills should we be prioritizing?
- How has your reading experience been so far? Have you found pleasure in reading or has it been more of a challenge? What kind of barriers have you encountered as you read?
Submission:
To submit, please attach your saved files as either a Word, PDF, JPG or PNG file below and click Submit. You can submit for this assignment more than once.
