the simulation/game, answer the questions below.
Simulation Questions:
1. What is a cell?
2. What is an organelle?
3. What are the major parts of the cell?
4. What is a virus (research a basic definition)?
5. What are the 3 main functions of the Cell membrane?
6. What role does the Vacuole play in eukaryotic cells?
7. What is homeostasis?
8. What macromolecules are made by ribosomes?
9. What is the primary function of the Mitochondria?
10. What is the difference between smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum?
11. What is produced/modified by the endoplasmic reticulum?
12. What is the role of the lysosome in cell functioning?
13. What is contained in the nucleus that controls cell functions?
Post Simulation Questions:
1. According to the game, what are five life functions of cells?
2. What is the difference between a prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell, and why did your
character think that this one is probably eukaryotic?
3. Explain what the following cell structures do: cell membrane, Golgi apparatus, smooth
endoplasmic reticulum, rough endoplasmic reticulum, ribosome, vacuole, lysosome,
cytoplasm, mitochondria, and nucleus?
4. Why does the cell create many mitochondria?
5. What is your opinion? – which organelle visited in the game do you think is the most
important?
6. Draw a sketch of a eukaryotic cell with the organelles you visited identified? (you can
also find an image online to copy)
