University of Central Florida Don’t ask where I’m from ask where I’m a local Video Analysis (1) One of the essays you will revise conventionally–that is, according to what you’ve learned about nonfiction and the specific feedback you’ve gotten from me and/or fellow students to make that particular essay the best it can be.It should be between 500-750 wordsFor this essay . Include one-paragraph analysis in which you explain what you learned about writing from the assignment and progression of that particular essay. In the analysis paragraph, be sure to include literary vocabulary you’ve learned along the way when discussing the essay (e.g., hook, point of view, structure, diction, grammar, imagery, dialogue, setting, hyperbole, personification, metaphor, etc.) There was a time I was reading quotes about life and death, and I came upon one that
was saying “once your death arrives, it will find you even in the safest place, but if it is not
your day to die, no matter what happens, you will evade death.” It is hard to think about the
in-depth meaning of the phrase until one experience a near-death experience.
We are five in our family, mother, and father, one sister, one brother, and I was the
firstborn. It is customary for the family to go upcountry to visit grandparents for a week or
two during the Christmas holidays. Everything is going to plan, and every person is jovial.
My brother says, “I plan to go fishing with grandfather,” and my sister says, “I will learn the
sewing lessons with grandmother and catch up with our neighbor.” My father and mother
seem to have a constructive conversation as they are in the front while we are in the back
seat. Everything seems to go perfectly.
All over a sudden, we hear beeps, but we cannot see it clearly as we are in a
junction. Within seconds, everything reveals itself as we approach a sharp corner and
see the monster track heading in our direction with high speed. My mother quickly
says, “Stiffen your belts children, and no matter what happens, I love you.” My father
seems relaxed but is caught in a surprise as he has little time to act.
I close my eyes to avoid witnessing the incident that was about to happen and to
come to terms with my death and that of my family. A few minutes later, I hear the sound of
sirens and an unfamiliar voice saying, “he is regaining consciousness” I cannot open my eyes
and see that there is no sign of any member of my family and the thought of losing any one of
them makes me start to cry. However, I feel relief when I see all my family coming towards
me. Also, I see the track stopping a few yards after passing our car.
I learn that we had narrowly escaped the incident. It was the day I reflected and
knew the reason why someone would say that once it is the day of death to a person, they will
die no matter the strategy they choose to employ to be safe. It was not our day to die
because it was a perfect scene that would lead to death, considering how human life is
temporary. It was a lesson to live life and stop being too careful because, in one minute, a
person can be healthy, happy, and successful, but within seconds they are dead and forgotten.

Feedback:
1- upcountry: Do most grandparents live “upcountry”?
2- constructive conversation: About what? Be specific.
3- the monster track: What does this mean? Truck?
4- the incident that was about to happen: wordy.
5- I see: Change it to I open my eyes and see.
6- Track: Truck?
7- we had narrowly escaped the incident: How so if you were unconscious?
Something must have happened. We need more explanation.
8- It was not our day to die because it was a perfect scene that would lead to death:
awkward.
9- We: Change to there.
10- All over a sudden, we hear beeps, but we cannot see it clearly as we are in a
junction. Within seconds, everything reveals itself as we approach a sharp corner
and see the monster track heading in our direction with high speed. My mother
quickly says, “Stiffen your belts children, and no matter what happens, I love
you.” My father seems relaxed but is caught in a surprise as he has little time to
act.: The author should have inserted a dialogue to strengthen narration of the memory.
11- Learn: I would write learned instead of learn.
