Essay should be 500-1,000 words and five to ten paragraphs in length. The essay must have a TITLE and a THESIS STATEMENT. You must support your thesis statement with examples, facts, and / or other evidence in an essay that has a clear beginning, middle and end. You should use examples from the text you choose to write about, and possibly your personal experience and knowledge. You should use direct quotes, but you may also paraphrase and summarize.

Write a rhetorical analysis essay in which you contrast the essays “Death and Justice” by Edward I. Koch and “The Death Penalty” by David Bruck. Write a rhetorical analysis in which you explain both arguments and identify some of the rhetorical techniques the authors use to support their arguments (such as the ethos, logos, and pathos appeals). How do both authors address the issue of capital punishment? You may take a stand for Koch’s position or Bruck’s position, if you wish. Please use quotations from both essays to support your thesis.
