This project will be an individual effort. Please see the following instructions and rubric. This project is about the concepts you learned during weather and climate. All information submitted in this project must be your work. Please do not copy information! Everything should be in your own words.
- Select a region/country that you are interested in to collect weather and climate data.
- Create a data table and collect current weather data in your chosen area for the next seven days. It is best that you collect the data for seven consecutive days.
The data you should be collecting is:
- Temperature (highs and lows)
- Precipitation (amount and type of precipitation)
- Wind speed and direction
- Humidity
- Location and types of fronts
- Areas of high and low pressure.
- Choose one day and create a weather map from your data. Be sure to include all relevant symbols to reflect the weather conditions from that day. The map can be drawn by hand or created on the computer. The weather map is based on the data given on the 11th of June 2020.
- Make a digital presentation about your weather map. Explain the current conditions shown on your weather map AND make a prediction of what the weather will look like the next day based on the current conditions.
- You do not have to physically be in front of the camera, but your voice will need to be heard. You may use a pointer to avoid showing your hands, etc. (write a script explaining everything)
Things that you need to explain:
Pressure, wind speed, humidity, Precipitation … also indicate that there are no areas of high or low pressure and that there are no fronts in the region.
- On the video, at the beginning of the report, please state your name and the date of the weather conditions you are reporting about.
- Research/Analysis: Create a report that answers the following information.
- What were the weather conditions like in that region 100 years ago? (circa 1920)
- When was the earliest recorded weather report in that area? What were the weather conditions that were recorded?
- How do the weather conditions compare with the past and present data?
- In your opinion, why has the weather changed or stayed the same?
- Sources of information: Please list all the sites where you obtained your information. Use correct citation format.
Items to be submitted:
- Weather data table
- Weather map
- Video of weather forecast
- Research and Analysis questions with sources cited.
