During these significant war events, the army kept expanding due to the need for effective repulsion of internal and external aggression. The U.S. Army today is still engaged in severe operational and mission objectives. It has taken part in the peacekeeping mission in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Africa, and other parts of the Asian continent. Currently, the U.S. Army has over 1 million servicemen and women, and its overall objective is to protect the USA as well as its interests (Galloway, 2020). The mission of the US AMRY is “To deploy, fight and win our nation’s wars by providing ready, prompt and sustained land dominance by army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force” (U.S Army).

The mission of the U.S. Army is to defeat ground forces of enemies, seize and control the things valued most by the enemy, which include land, resources, and the people occupying the land. By 2028, the agency is seeking to be in a position to fight and win enemies and this will be achieved through deployment of modern military equipment.

Functions of the U.S. Army

The U.S Army is divided into two branches. They include the operational and institutional branches. The functions of the operational branch is to perform the visible roles of the Amy. Some of these visible roles include peacekeeping as well as combat. In other words, in the event of military conflict with another country or enemy, the operational branch of the U.S. Army is responsible for responding to such aggression through the use of military action (Godwin, 2019). The operational branch is further divided into two major categories which include the active army and the reserve component. The active army is involves troops which have been deployed across the globe. The active army constitutes close to 60% of the U.S. Army.

The reserve component of the U.S. Army palsy several roles. First, the army reserve fills the positions or gap left by active army tops which have been deployed in other countries. This means that the reserve army takes care of internal security matters of the country. However, the army reserve plays significant roles during times of disasters such as earthquake, hurricanes, and flooding. The army reserves is tasked with evacuation of civilians when disasters strike. Another critical function of the army reserve is managing I.T. services of the U.S. Army (Galloway, 2020). One of the services is the management of information technology systems through enhancing information security, troubleshooting I.T. systems training the rest of the military personnel on safeguarding crucial data for the agency.

The army reserve is also tasked with the protection of the U.S. against biochemical risks. All the activities involving the handling of extremely harmful chemicals are handled by the U.S. Army Reserve. The branch also trains the federal government and local authorities on matters regarding handling biohazard substances and in an event biological or chemical event, the bank is responsible for decontaminating the places or premises that have been affected (Trainor et al., 2017). Besides, the U.S. Army reserve handles the logistics role of the entire agency. Logistics roles entails procurement and supply of military equipment and other relevant resources.

It ensures troops deployed across her globe have access to the relevant equipment and resources to sustainability. Another curial function of the U.S. Army Reserve is the provision of medical service to the troops. There is new emerging information pertaining to the U.S. Army, some relating to the structural organization while others relating to the particular events that the army engages in. In this light, the present essay would take into account two major news that directly relates to the U.S. Army. The first news relates to the U.S. military truck and Russian Jeep (Craziosi, 2020). This news explain vividly the current standoff between the America and Syria, due to the current conflict that exits between them. In this news, one of the U.S. military truck was caught by the surveillance camera while attempting to push the Russian Jeep off the main highway in Syria.

As explained by those who witness the occurrence, a driver of the Russian Jeep was driving alongside the U.S. convoy while flying the Russian flag. Ahead of the driver were groups of America mine-resistant vehicles, predominately known as the MRAP trucks. The driver of Russian vehicle then decided to cut across the convoy line behind the America Army trucks. As the driver continued to exonerate and pass the convey, it was reported, based on the information drawn from the surveillance cameras, that jeep’s way got blocked by the U.S. Army truck (Craziosi, 2020). The truck later began ramming the jeep off the road, leading to an injury of one of the civilian bystander. Currently, there has been a severe investigation into that altercation to determine the actual outcome.

The second news relates to the U.S. Navy leaders. As reported by the U.S. military broadcast, some section of the top navy leaders is demanding Captain Brett Crozier be given the duty of Roosevelt Theodore’s commanding Officer. Such kind of decision has been reached upon by the Top leaders due to the increasing level of crisis that has been experienced in the aircraft career (Craziosi, 2020). The recommendations of the top leaders were later presented to the Navy secretary, McPherson James. Currently, there is no solid decision that has been made regarding the request. The report will be later reviewed by Esper, then he will later meet the navy officials to reach upon a prudent solution.

Rationale for Selecting U.S Army

There are multiple rationales as to why I made the U.S. Army the subject of discussion. First, it is vital to recognize the immense sacrifice that the U.S. Army makes in providing reliable security to the entire American population. Such kind of selflessness requires greater appreciation. It thus the first reason why found it worth to include it in the present study. Secondly, I had a core aim of making people understand the core functions of the U.S. Army so that they have sufficient knowledge based on such roles.

As previously stated, such roles includes peacekeeping as well as combating the enemies in case of attack, securing borders, as observe the border between America and Mexico, evacuation of civilians from the disasters strike prone areas, among others as well described above. Another rationale for selecting the U.S. Army is due to my deep interest in criminology. I have seen many people suffer a lot as result of various criminal activities (Trainor et al., 2017). In my academic life, I have done research and read multiple articles based on how best the security of the civilians can be improved. This kind of interest is what drove me to select U.S. Army for my study.

Understanding the U.S. Army structures and branches, including how the various departments interlink in the course of operation, is very imperative. This is another reason why I chose this topic. I felt it was vital to enlighten people, through this particular study, on how the U.S. Army is organized and how the various unit operates to ensure the safety of all Americans. Another reason, besides the stated one, is to create a profound understanding on the role of political stability in our America economy.

The success of America has been deeply rooted on the peace and harmony that it has been enjoying (Trainor et al., 2017). Suck kind of peace has attracted the level of foreign direct investment into America Economy, thus improving the GDP and the living standard of people. Such kind of political stability has been possible to attain due to the excellent work and organization of the U.S. Army.
